Guests started the evening checking in with NorthStar staff Michelle Chambers and Cora Crump! On their way to finding their table, guests were encouraged to take a look at the raffle items available, and purchase tickets!
After receiving the blessing from soccer mom Melissa Lee, we all lined up for delicious Jim 'n Nicks Barbecue while enjoying music from Slap Happy.
Coaches who were present were called forward to be recognized. Danny Harvey (Principal and Athletic Director for Restoration Academy talked about his experience coaching his daughter's U12 NorthStar girls team and his vision for establishing Restoration Academy Soccer and bringing elementary age teams to play in the NorthStar Intramural League.
Executive Director Paul Neville talked briefly about our theme verse of Colossians 3:23 and its application to the program. Veteran NorthStar parent Latasha Christian talked about the impact of NorthStar in her family (her oldest
daughter, Fredrika was one of our biggest soccer stars and is now a freshman at Auburn!). The highlight of the evening was hearing testimony from Raniha (10th grader at Alabama Aerospace and Aviation High School). NorthStar has been blessed to be able to be a support for Raniha over the years and we are very encouraged to see where she is today! Expect to see her out on the field this spring as part of our Youth Leadership program.
We wrapped it all up with drawing the raffle tickets, encouragement to sign up to volunteer, and encouragement to contribute.
