Intramural League

Intramural soccer is a recreational program designed to introduce young players to the game of soccer in a fun, non-competitive environment. At NorthStar, our intramural soccer program is offered to youth in grades K4 through 4th grade. The focus is on learning basic soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while ensuring that every player has the opportunity to participate and enjoy the game.

Futures League

Club soccer is a more competitive and advanced level of play that focuses on skill development, teamwork, and competing at higher levels. Unlike intramural soccer, which is recreational and less competitive, club soccer involves structured training and a commitment to regular practices. At NorthStar, we offer club soccer for youth players from 4th and 5th grade with experience, all the way through high school.

Alabama State League

Alabama State League (ASL) soccer is a highly competitive league that brings together some of the best youth soccer teams from across Alabama, providing players with the opportunity to compete at an elevated level. The league is designed for players who are ready for a more intense commitment, with a focus on developing their skills, teamwork, and game strategies in a competitive environment.

We have a limited number of ASL teams each season. Tryouts are required for these teams.

Parent Information

State league soccer teams represent a higher level of competition compared to regular club soccer teams, requiring a greater commitment from players and families. While regular club teams typically focus on skill development, local competitions, and a balanced schedule, state league teams compete at a regional or state level, often facing off against stronger teams from a larger geographical area. This means more intense training, travel for away games, and a longer season with more frequent matches.

The state league demands a higher level of dedication and performance, as players are expected to demonstrate advanced technical skills, strategic understanding, and physical fitness. The commitment includes more rigorous practices, extended travel schedules, and a more competitive environment overall. Players on state league teams are typically looking to push their skills to the next level, with the goal of excelling in regional competitions and potentially advancing to higher levels of play.
