Why NorthStar Exists
Using soccer as a tool to disciple and grow the underserved youth of Birmingham.
Sports naturally provide a powerful opportunity to build confidence through developing performance and character. A mentoring focus builds on this platform to intentionally develop moral character. At NorthStar, we believe every moment matters. Through soccer, mentorship, and faith formation, we help young people develop the character, resilience, and leadership they will carry into the rest of their lives.
What begins on the field often shapes a child’s future.
Why This Project Matters
At NorthStar Soccer Ministries, soccer is just the beginning. We provide direction for kids seeking purpose and hope for families, helping young people grow in faith, confidence, and character through mentoring.
For over 30 years, Northstar Ministries has helped kids grow on and off the field, but we’ve reached our limit. In 2025, we had to turn families away due to limited field space. Issues like poor drainage, uneven surfaces, and restricted availability are holding us back.
As demand grows, expansion is already on the horizon for Fall 2026. Field space still remains our biggest barrier. The Northstar Soccer Complex will provide a safe, high-quality space built for proper use, allowing us to grow and serve more families. This project is about more than fields, it’s about creating opportunity for every child who wants to be part of Northstar.

The NorthStar Soccer Complex
On nine acres in Birmingham, the NorthStar Soccer Complex will provide a space designed specifically for mentorship, development, and community.
The Complex Will Include:
• Two full-size soccer fields
• Ministry and mentoring space
• Restroom and concessions facility
• Outdoor gathering areas for teams and families
Phase 1: Field & Bathroom

Step 1. Field preparation
Step 2. Site work, drainage, irrigation, permanent field lighting
Step 3. Permanent restroom facility
This facility will allow NorthStar to expand its programs and serve hundreds more youth each year with excellence and Christ-centered purpose.
